ABOUT

I became aware of solitary bees when I discovered alfalfa leafcutter bees nesting in my porch furniture. A little research led me to CrownBees.com and I have been hooked on raising and learning all I can about these hive-less bees ever since.
In 2015 I began sharing my love of native pollinators with my Montessori preschool families and founded the Indiana Pollinator Project. When I retired from teaching, I created Bees Gone Wild to turn my obsession into a, well, I guess you could call it a job?
The work that Dave Hunter, and his company Crown Bees, has done to promote the importance and value of these pollinators motivates me to do the same here in my local community. I love sharing how these humble little insects can have a profound impact on our ecosystem and our ability to grow food for an ever-increasing population.
I have presented at schools, garden expos, farmers markets, and master gardener events, and I host classes throughout the year.  If you are a member of a group looking to host a guest speaker, please fill out the form below to schedule an appearance. Presentations include a PowerPoint presentation and lots of hands-on materials including bee specimens and the chance to open a nesting tube and see what's inside. Bee nesting materials and resources will be available for sale.
